Miner Boot

C.F. Stead Kudu — Brandy

Kudu leather does not pretend to be uniform. The open-pored, pebbled grain of African kudu hide carries the animal's own geography — variation in texture, depth, and pull-up that no cattle hide can replicate. Sourced from C.F. Stead of Leeds, built on Last 9013 with a 1/2 Goodyear welt double-stitched throughout, and finished with antique brass hardware. Dr. Sole underfoot. Genuine leather toe box and heel counter inside. This is a boot that begins interesting and only gets more so.

C.F. Stead Kudu — Full-Grain, Natural Tan

C.F. Stead has been tanning leather in Leeds since 1904. Their kudu is sourced from southern Africa — a hide distinguished by its open pore structure, natural grain irregularity, and a fiber density that responds to conditioner and wear in ways that smooth cattle leather cannot. No two kudu hides are identical: the mottled pull-up pattern visible across the upper is not a flaw or an inconsistency — it is the surface record of the animal, preserved through tanning. The Natural Tan colorway starts warm and honeyed, pulling darker at stress points and developing a patina that reads as lived-in from the first month of wear.

1/2 Goodyear Welt — Double Stitch Throughout

A 1/2 Goodyear welt runs the forefoot and waist of the boot, with a clean-sewn heel — a hybrid construction that combines the structural integrity of a Goodyear bond with a trimmer heel profile than a full-perimeter welt allows. The double stitch runs the entire welt length: two parallel rows of thread, each independently load-bearing, so that if one row wears through the other holds. This is a boot built to be resoled when the outsole wears, not when the construction gives way.

Antique Brass — Eyelets & Speed Hooks

Antique brass hardware runs the full lacing column — flat eyelets at the lower rows, speed hooks from the ankle upward. Against the warm, mottled natural tan of kudu, the oxidized brass does not compete — it belongs. Both materials carry their age visibly: the kudu darkens unevenly, the brass develops depth without losing its warmth. Two things aging on the same terms.

Sizing — Last 9310, Standard U.S. Sizing

This boot follows standard U.S. sizing. Simply choose your usual boot or leather shoe size.

Coming from sneakers? We recommend sizing down half to one full size — for example, a US 9 in Nike translates to approximately US 8 or 8.5 in this model.

Coming from Red Wing or similar work boots? Select your usual size — the 9310 last fits consistently with standard work boot sizing.
