Stringer Boot-1809

Maryam Horsebutt — Cuoio

Horsebutt is not a compromise on shell cordovan — it is a different argument entirely. The full-grain surface of the horse's hindquarter, tanned grain-side out, carries a tighter fiber density than bovine leather and a warmth of color that develops from the inside. Maryam's horsebutt starts amber and burns deeper with every wear. The Stringer's tall shaft and 3/4 Goodyear welt give it the structure to carry that material over years of honest use. Last 2302. Antique brass hardware.

Maryam Horsebutt — Full-Grain, Cuoio

Horsebutt leather comes from the hindquarter of the horse — the same anatomical region that yields shell cordovan, but processed grain-side out rather than from the inner membrane. The result is a full-grain surface with a fiber structure denser and more tightly interlocked than standard cowhide: less prone to scratching, faster to develop a surface patina, and capable of absorbing conditioner at a deeper level. Maryam's Natural Tan colorway is drum-dyed to an amber base that oxidizes toward a rich honey-cognac with sunlight and wear. No two hides pull the same shade.

3/4 Goodyear Welt — Traditional Lasted, Fully Resolable

A 3/4 welt runs from the toe through the waist of the boot, terminating before the heel seat — allowing a cleaner heel line and a silhouette that reads closer to a dress boot than a work boot, while retaining the full structural integrity of a Goodyear bond. The welt is mechanically stitched to the upper and insole, then hand-sewn to the outsole. When the outsole wears through, the boot comes apart at the welt — not at the upper — and is rebuilt from the midsole up.

Antique Brass — Eyelets & Speed Hooks

Antique brass hardware runs the full length of the tall lacing column — flat eyelets at the lower rows, speed hooks from the ankle upward. Against the amber and cognac tones of Maryam horsebutt, the oxidized brass reads as a natural extension of the leather's own warmth rather than a contrasting accent. As the boot ages and the upper deepens in color, the brass continues to oxidize alongside it — two warm materials tracking the same timeline.

Sizing — Last 2302, Standard U.S. Sizing

This boot follows standard U.S. sizing. Simply choose your usual boot or leather shoe size.

Coming from sneakers? We recommend sizing down half to one full size — for example, a US 9 in Nike translates to approximately US 8 or 8.5 in this model.

Coming from Red Wing or similar work boots? Select your usual size — the 2302 last fits consistently with standard work boot sizing.
