Stringer Boot-1809
Shell Cordovan — Conceria Condor, Italy
Shell cordovan is the rarest panel on a horse: a non-porous, muscle-fiber membrane from beneath the rump, tanned over months rather than days. The Stringer Boot takes that material and builds upward — a tall lace shaft, an unstructured toe, a 3/4 Goodyear welt held to a Dr. Sole outsole. Last 2302. Black nickel hardware. A boot that earns its mirror shine without being asked.

Upper Material
Shell Cordovan — Conceria Condor S.r.l., Italy
Shell cordovan is not a type of cowhide. It is a dense, non-fibrous membrane — the cordovan shell — harvested from the hindquarters of the horse and pit-tanned over six months to a year. Conceria Condor in Italy is one of a small number of tanneries globally still producing shell cordovan at artisanal quality. The result is a leather with no visible grain, extreme resistance to creasing, and a natural gloss that deepens with every application of bone or antler. This is a material that does not wear out — it wears in.
Construction
3/4 Goodyear Welt — Traditional Lasted, Fully Resolable
A 3/4 welt runs from the toe through the waist of the boot, stopping short of the heel seat — a construction choice that allows a closer heel profile and a more refined silhouette than a full-welt build. The welt is mechanically stitched to the upper and insole, then sewn to the outsole in the traditional Goodyear method. The result is a boot that can be stripped to the insole and rebuilt, without compromising the upper or the last shape.
Hardware Detail
Black Nickel — Flat Eyelets Throughout
Black nickel hardware runs the full lacing column of the tall shaft — a deliberate tonal decision. Against the deep burgundy-brown of shell cordovan, bright brass or antique bronze would compete. Black nickel disappears into the boot, letting the mirror of the leather surface command the eye. As the boot ages and the cordovan deepens, the hardware remains a quiet, fixed reference point.
Size Guide
Sizing — Last 2302, Standard U.S. Sizing
This boot follows standard U.S. sizing. Simply choose your usual boot or leather shoe size.
Coming from sneakers? We recommend sizing down half to one full size — for example, a US 9 in Nike translates to approximately US 8 or 8.5 in this model.
Coming from Red Wing or similar work boots? Select your usual size — the 2302 last fits consistently with standard work boot sizing.
